i have a 2008 corvette that has a intermittent no crank. i thought it was the starter solenoid (had read they were problematic). so i removed the starter and the battery stud was loose and plastic cracked. replaced starter and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. (before doing that i had did all the normal stuff, e.g. cleaned battery terminals, checked battery, etc.). then the problem came back. it takes 7 or 8 tries and it will finally start. thought it may be a ground issue so the next time it did it i put a jumper cable from the battery ground to the alternator bracket. starts every time.
i removed the ground connection above the starter and cleaned it. no obvious issues was tight with no corrosion. terminal connection looked good. Any suggestions?
If you have cranking but no start, like the poster above said, first thing I'd check is fuel pressure.
The connection at the fuel pump fuse-block relay is a common issue. Try unplugging the relay and re-plugging it in when you have a no start condition next time. Or, you can jiggle the harness leading to the fuseblock terminal and see if it fires-up.
I had to lightly re-crimp the wire connector and put a dab of dielectric on it to keep it from shorting/no fuel-pump operation and not starting.
If the car starts normally every time you use the jumper cable you have an issue with your battery ground !!
I’d do a voltage drop on both sides of the battery ground and also on the positive side and see where your problem lies !!...a video to help !!
