Hey folks. Currently building 2011 Z16, and wondering if the stock pistons, in your opinions, would be a liability with approx. 500 RWH, and if not, would they be with a 75 HP nitrous spray. First time on the forum, and thank you for your time.
The LS3 stock pistons hold up good up to at least 650 RWHP. These pistons are not brittle like the old LT1 pistons that would break ring lands all the time especially under boost.
I am using the stock pistons in my 2011 GS with a modest 8 PSI of boost and pump gas ..... No piston problems at all.
Internally, the LS3 is a pretty stout engine .... but, like any engine, don't let it detonate ... A proper dyno tune is essential if you have made major mods

Thanks fellers.
Throwing in mild camshaft and timing. A few valvetrain upgrades. Porting the intake manifold and TB. 1 7/8 headers. No catalysts full exhaust mated to OEM NPP mufflers, E 85 conversion and Dino tune and maybe some Nitro. Any other weak spots anyone can see? Btw, not a drag car, my everyday car
