Anyone had this problem.
I have a lg headers 1 7/8 only 16 k km in 4 years on them I’ve been hearing some leaks in the driver side headers and I had 2 new codes 171& 174, yesterday I took out the headers removed the heat wrap and noticed a small hole inside one of the 4 pipes, I cut the pipe & saw this, can I just weld the hole and the pice back, will this last ?? Thank u guys .

Back in the late 1980s when we started seeing header wrap for automotive use it was said to be for race apps only bcuz back then most car headers were not stainless steel. Plain steel wrapped headers didnt last long on the street.
It was said tubes took a beating under the wrap and sooner than later would eventualy crack.
Nowdays some lit says not to wrap headers tightly.
Thanks for help, I just put it back in place after having it welded,but the guy Who weld it says that this is a factory defect I’m not expert. Hope it lasts.
