Default TPMS question

2009 Z06. I have have a set of track wheels/tires and a set of street. Is it possible to pull a fuse to just disable the system? Every time I switch tires, I have to link the wheel sensors to the computer or I get error warnings.

If you know someone with a Tech2 you can disable the error messages or warnings. I did this for a forum member for his C5, I’m sure it can be done also with the C6.

Pull sensors from wheels, put sensors in a pvc tube, pressurize it and stick in the car somewhere.. Then you can swap wheels/tires and won't have to worry with it.

That's interesting, but a bit complicated. It would work.

The key here is the type of track. I know that sounds funny, but for drag racing it's pretty normal to be checking tire pressures real often, plus you're going a short distance in a straight line vs road racing where loss of pressure mid-way in a 15 minute session with other cars fighting for the lead into a tight corner can spell disaster.

For drag racing, you can simply dis-regard the warnings.

For road racing, the easy solution is to use clonable sensors in one set of wheels, so you don't need to reprogram every time you change wheels. The only downside is that you need to store the wheels you aren't using about 40-50 feet from the car, so that the car doesn't receive info from tires not on the car. That would self-correct within the first mile if you left wheels at home, but if you changed wheels at the track, you'd never know which wheel sensors the car's DIC was reading.

JMPO, I'd feel that doing a reprogram procedure was just part of the preparations to race. It only takes 2 minutes.

At the track, one's mind is on numerous things. So put in a LG track box, be done with this and put your attention on what is really beneficial to your day

Just buy the programmer. $10 and takes all of 30 seconds to do.

I keep this one in my glove box just in case I forget to program.
