Default TPMS False Code

I have a C6 Grand Sport Convertible that is having issues with the Tire Pressure Monitor System. After driving for about 30 minutes on of highway driving, I get a failure of the monitor of the tire pressure sensors. It will show an XX in the display for tire pressure and it is always on the left rear and sometimes both rear tires. I usually stop and check the pressure and it is fine. I can turn the car off for about 5 minutes, restart, check the dash reading and all pressure reading are good. Drive again for about 30 min. and it may or may not come back on. This problem will occur on average 1 out of 3 times I drive the car.

I had the dealership replace all four sensors and it still does it. They can’t get it to repeat because it would require a 50+ mile drive.

Anyone else had this issue?

I don't have any solutions to offer but I am also having this problem. It varies between 20 - 40 minutes of driving before the TPMS light will come on, goes off whenever the car is turned off and the sensor will reprogram to the car. This is on my track wheels which have sensors that are only about a year old. It's always the LR and it shows pressure for awhile before showing XX. I have another set of wheels and I plan on running them and seeing if I have the same problem. I also bought another sensor to see if that is the issue.

Thanks for the reply. It does sould like we have the exact same issue. I did a lot of research on the weekend and found several people suggesting that an Apple I-Phone could be causing interference. I have not tried to drive the car with my phone or turning the phone off while I drive but that is the next step for me.
Please let me know if you find any additional information.

I swapped wheels and drove for about 50 minutes and the light never came back on. I am replacing the sensor in the offending track wheel and next weekend I will find out if that worked.

I am going through this exact same issue as walangley1. I Also tried other forums and got little to no help. I too just had all the sensors replaced recently because of random xx readings, and the issues returned except my right rear is usually more problematic. I will try leaving the iPhones at home but we drove to California from Canada last summer and had no issues. I would like to know more if anyone can contribute. I also wanted to upgrade my head unit to CarPlay but now I’m not so sure. And as I think more about it I’m wondering if the LED lights I installed over winter are some how interfering with the sensors? Does anyone else have LEDs installed?

I have changed nothing in the interior. I used my Android phone in the car on long trips like when I had my issue and never had a problem before now. I just got a new sensor installed in the problem wheel and have a long trip coming up so I can let everyone know how it goes.

Well I recently changed my rims, and installed my original tpms sensors on the new ones. I had always had the right rear tpms give me issues. Today I decided to replace it. It seems to be working fine, EXCEPT. Once I enter the reset and program mode with the tool, I cant seem to get a scan nor horn confirmation from one of my front tires( which work just fine), and can get a confirmation horn from both the rear.. maybe it has to do with the angle the tool is at towards the sensor and where the valve/sensor is position relative to the ground? Ive already swapped the battery on the tool with a new one measuring 9.09v Any ideas?I know my tpms tool works because I've used it before and was able to reset them all when i diagnosed the original bad sensor. now i now i cant get them to all reset thanks in advance!

I am glad to know that I am not the only one. Hopefully someone out there has the solution.

The only thing I can offer is make sure you are holding it by the tire sidewall and not by the valve stem or metal of the wheel. I used to hold it near the valve stem and would have trouble activating them. I read the instructions and it says to hold it by the sidewall of the tire.

Thank you all for your feedback.Tried it again in the morning and I got it to work and was able to reprogram successfully. I did a few things, I replaced the new Energizer battery with a new Duracell battery in the tpms tool, also, I moved my car so non of the sensors or fill valves where near the floor, but more so at either 3 or 9 o clock. For some reason this seemed to work, I wasnt too concerned with the back tires valve position since they seemed to work fine the previous day and my issue was with the front too. I have Michelins all around, I basically placed the tool on the rib of the curb rub of the tire where it extends farther than the rim. It worked on the first attempt. Good luck guys!

I will provide an update. I replaced the offending TPMS and drove about 7 hours total with a HPDE and had no issues.

Wanted to provide an update. Didn't have an issue after replacing the problem sensor.
