Changed exhaust on mt 2005 now it has a bad drone noise how do i get better sound
we cut the stock mufflers off and put short mufflers on have been told to put straight pipes on to get rid of the drone noise

Lots of discussion on the forum and performance exhaust. I've found the Corsa exhaust doesn't have drone. Also the dual mode on my Grand Sport doesn't.
what kind of mufflers do you think flowmaster, magnaflow or i know where a set of hooker exhaust axle back is
You were given horrible advise but hey, it happens to all of us eventually. For less drone, I always suggest Corsa. I have the Corsa Sports on mine and even with headers, there is absolutely no drone on the highway. It's so pleasant to drive over long distances but it really wakes up when I give it the gas!
Borla s-type II do not drone either. The newer design (several years old now) appears to be same as Corsa (copy perhaps?). A bit deeper to Corsa’s higher pitch. Both are excellent systems, can’t go wrong with either. Do note: if find original s-type they DO drone at certain lower rpm frequencies.

The newer model S type does not drone but I can assure you the older Borla stingers do drone quite a bit

Yeah, believe that was the motive for the change from what I've read. Running Type II now with LG headers. Absolutely no drone at any RPM and heavenly at WOT. Love the Corsa sound too, and better tips for sure. That deeper Borla rumble is just my slightly preferred sound. Really was a very tough decision when purchasing - strongly considered both. May change up some day.

I'm guessing this is the same brilliant person that just chopped off the muffler and welded on some random muffler? Because they clearly don't understand the benefits of an H-pipe or X-pipe, nor should they be giving any sort of advice on anything related to exhausts.
It'd make sense to just buy a quality catback or run stock exhaust with headers.
If you want to get fancy, you could always go with the scientific method of figuring out the frequency of the drone at whatever RPM it occurs at, then calculate the proper length for a Helmholtz resonator and weld it on. https://wilhelmraceworks.com/blog/killing-drone

Friend, you have made several good technical comments here. However, expect most or all of them to be ignored.
We agree with the advice in this thread-doing a muffler delete will NOT help the drone issue (probably the opposite). If you were looking for a drone-free solution, we would recommend something like our Street axle back or cat back system. They have a straight-through free flowing design, but won't compromise your interior comfort by being overly noisy/droning. You can find more info about them below on our website. If you have questions about either system, please feel free to shoot us a PM or call at 1-800-990-0905!
