Yesterday I experienced a strange issue with my brakes on my 2005. When coming to an easy stop, I have a good pedal, but when almost to a complete stop, I would release the pedal pressure just a slight amount, keeping my foot on the pedal, gauging my distance from the car in front, then, when ready to come to a complete stop and applying more pedal pressure, the pedal would travel an inch or two before grabbing. The first time this happened it scared the crap out of me as I thought my brakes had completely failed and the pedal was going to go all the way to the floor.
Has anyone experienced this? And what was the cause?
Thanks in advance.
No external leaks? Look to the master cylinder.
Classic symptoms of fluid bypassing the cup seals, until pressure builds enough to force them against the bore.
Standard test is to apply easy pressure to the bake pedal, and see if you can get it to sink beyond the normal 'solid' point.
Good luck, let us know what you find!
