Hey everyone, i’m having a lot of trouble figuring out what my issue is here, so before when this first started happening it was giving me the no fob detected and wouldn’t crank the motor over but everything would go dark on the dash as if it’s trying to start, so i did some research and though that it was the rcdlr (remote control door locking receiver) and so i bought a new one and had it programmed, work for less than a day and i started getting the same exact issues i was getting before but wasn’t getting the no fob detected, and i got my battery tested thinking maybe it was that, and my battery was shot so i replaced that today and still nothing, and the weird thing is that i can bump start my car and it runs fine, and i replaced the starter about a month ago and tested it and there is just no voltage going to the started, so what i’m guessing is the BCM (body control module) cause i read that the RCDLR sends a signal to the BCM telling it that the key fob is in the car, and the BCM is supposed to send power to the starter, and i spent $600 replacing and programming that RCDLR just for that not to be the issue, so i’m trying to save my self from making that mistake again, but both key fobs work fine, new batteries in both of them, the car won’t start with either, new battery in the car, new RCDLR, new starter, and the car is getting fuel and spark because it will start and drive perfectly when bump started, and there is no security light on so not the ani-theft i don’t think, and i have an aftermarket stereo and hear that that could mess with it, so i took it out and disconnected the battery to reset everything and tried again but nothing, what do y’all think??
Tech II, check the BCM data to see if it putting the ecm into start mode when you push the starter button.
If no and not getting no Fob detected on the DIC, and a manual, could be clutch pedal bottom switch bad or starter switch bad. If auto, either trans not in park, BPS may need to be relearned if you do have your foot on the brake pedal
If yes, and the ECM data is also showing in start state command as well, then check the starter relay in the engine fuse box, as well as the positive terminal nut on the starter solenoid to make sure it still tight.
Bottom line, sounds like you are wasting a lot of money by replacing good parts, instead of troubling shooting the system to figure out the real problem isntead.
And if our trying to trouble shoot the car without a Tech II (or clone), you're really wasting your time trying to figuring out the problem in the electronics.

Well my starter solenoid went out a little bit ago so i had to replace it anyways, cruise control wasn’t working, so i replaced both clutch pedal switches (works now) and i checked the cable going to the starter and it’s good, so i guess now i can test the relay and i can take it to a shop that has a tech 2 to see if the ecm is going into start mode or see if the bcm is doing anything weird, and i already have a tool to read codes and stuff, would that be able to tell me if the ecm is going into start more or would i 100% need tech 2
Scanning tool has to be able to read at the body level commands ,and basic scanner is not going to get you this deep.
You don't list your location, but maybe someone close to you that does have a Tech II to give you a hand, verse taking the car to the dealer to just end up fanning $100 bills at them like a stripper on a pole when they just start replacing parts that don't need to be replaced.

yeah that’s exactly what i don’t want to be doing is giving the dealer a bunch of money and time that is unnecessary, and i’ve got a genisys evo scanner
but not sure if it can do the job
