Hi guys how do tighten the rear view mirror? its flopping up and down on acceleration!
There was a tread on how to repair the mirror going around about a year ago. There are two pins that get bent over time and this is what causes it to flop. The fix was to cut a drill bit down to the size of the pins and use that to replace the pins. The drill bit is a harder steel and would hold up better over time. Ill see if I can find the tread and post a link.
The pins that are spoken get bent and cause the mirror to vibrate and he loose and not fall down like you are experiencing. Your mirror likely has broken fingers on the plastic cup that holds the mirror pivot ball.
here is a link to the pivot ball issue https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...et-repair.html
I read about guys cutting up drill bits and all that but I ended up using roll pins. I had a kit from harbor freight lying around. Think they're 5/64 in diameter and 1" long. Can buy a whole box of them from HF for 4.99 pre coupon.
If you're not familiar with it grab the base where it attaches to the windshield and twist the bottom to the driver side (counterclockwise) and unplug the mirror. Be careful with the torx fasters that mount the plate to the base and just unscrew them and replace the pins. Pretty simple.
