Hello everyone please join in and share your expertise with me that way i don’t have to spend too much time looking and fixing the wrong things. Video i posted shows a sound my car started doing this morning after startup. Previous to this i should mention that the car had a slight misfire that wouldn’t cause the engine light to come on and the car drove fine for a while no issues but the idle definitely began to sound different and there was a noise coming from the manifold as shown. I wiggled all the rockers they are all pretty new by the way with new trunnion bearings (solid) and bone of them had foul play at all. Those this truly sound like a bad lifter?

My experience with a collapsed lifter is the push rod will be flopping around. Rotate the engine and if a push rod is not touching the rocker that's your bad lifter. You will definitely know which one.

Did u do a compression test?? That might be the lifter wheel.
. Sorry but i would start taking motor apart. Is it still running strong??
yes the motor itself is driving strong haven’t really noticed a major downfall on performance but i have noticed it not running to peak. I’m sure its a lifter going bad or wheel all jacked up
heres the update so far... took apart passenger side head and found this.. the other lifters were still smooth as butter.
Pull lifter trays, and see how much rotation slop of the lifter in them you have. If any lifters are not fitting tight to trays with no rotation to them in the tray slots, then replace all the trays.
Hence older lifter pair designs used to have the cross rod to keep them from rotating, while the lifter tray is what is keeping them from rotating now isntead.
So worn lifter trays, and the lifters rollers can rotate against the cam lobs to cause the problem.

To add, with the lifter roller trashed, the matching cam lobs is trashed as well (read new cam as well).
Yes sir, last night i took advantage of Texas speed Cyber Monday sales. Current parts coming in:
-Texas speed Magic stick Stage 4 Cam
-Morel 6504 Lifters W/ New trays (I’ve seen better reviews with morel Lifters rather than Ls7’s)
-Timing cover W/Gaskets
-OEM GM 6.0 Head Gaskets
waiting for these parts to come through so i can get started on the job. Car will be revived with an extra bump in power. Cant wait to show the end result.
OEM lifter guides are under $6.67 each ($26.68 for 4), and should be replaced no matter what.
And yes, you want OEM trays, not some after market part that may end up with the lifter rotating again.
Also, with heads off the motor, and the valve springs having any where near 30K miles on them, would replace the valve springs and vavle stem seals since it an easy job now, verse waiting until the 30K marks with radical cam and needing to replace them then isntead.
Good morning gents. I just wanted to give yall an update on what i did as a resolution. I basically tore apart the entire motor cleaned it up very nicely fixed many small things and replaced bearings for longevity. Car turned 85K miles. Went with new cam, springs rockers, lifters etc..
