Default Steering rack question

Long story short I had my balancer replaced and one of the bushings was left out on the passenger side steering rack mounting bolt. Before I start taking stuff apart does anyone know for sure if I will be able to lift up enough on the steering rack to get the bushing, if I take the outer tie rod loose and remove both of the mounting bolts on the rack?? Only thing in the way that I can see is the dust boot might hit the frame but I think I can collapse the boot inward and get more room. Anyone? Thanks

Sounds like you need to bring the car back to the shop that did the work and have them fix it on there dime.

Not putting everything back together correctly is not your problem ... it's the shop you paid to have the work done properly ... or is there more to this story we don't know ?

Nah that’s basically it. I’m not mad I’m sure it was an honest mistake and the bushing prob just fell out without them noticing. I was going to try and fix it but after talking to the shop I’m going to just take it back and let them do it to make sure it’s done right. They are a reputable shop and are going to take care of it.

Consider getting a doug rippie steering rack bushing. I’d recommend the delrin one. I got their aluminum first and it was sloppy.

Ive looked at those. Do they actually make a difference? Does it make the steering tighter or something?

Some guys have reported a difference, some say a big one. I didn’t but it’s not an expensive part and, to me, is worth the cost to try. Obviously the more worn out the existing one is the more of a difference you’ll get.

Was hearing some knocking sounds in the front passenger wheel area and something sounded loose. I pulled the wheel off and moved the rotor side to side and saw that the whole steering rack had movement. Looked closer and saw the bushing actually laying on the cradle. You can see the bushing laying there, must have fallen out when they removed the rack. Here’s a pic
