Default LS2 stroker kit recommendations or experiences

Firstly, I'm in the UK, so please bear in mine any exchange or refurb schemes are out of the question.

The shop have my 2005 140k LS2 engine out for a bit of overhaul, got a leaky sump, leaky crank seals, etc. Other jobs include new cam (and hence balancer and timing set while we're in there), new convertor for the a4 trans, new springs and seals, new lifters, mighty mouse catch can etc. The rings probably want doing as well while we're in there. Also have some long tubes and amt semi solid mounts to go on.

Thinking about doing some performance work while the engine is apart. Speaking with our close knit American car business community led me to a race shop who can port the 243 heads, but they said it's pointless with a stock intake and throttle. They also recommended better valves too.

The thing is, by the time I've costed that head/valves/intake/throttle work up (about $3000 equivalent), it's more than a stroker kit. A stroker kit can only be done easily with the engine out, and alot of the bits want doing anyway. It will also make more more power than a top end kit at the lower rpm dictated by my auto box (6000rpm limit I gather). Also sets me up well for future mods. New heads and intakes can done on my drive way later on.

So the question is: Recommendations and or experience with LS2 stroker kits. I'm looking for sensible good value. Not cheap and nasty, but not all-out big money either. Not planning on boost, so am looking at flat tops for pump gas.

Currently seen a 4.000 kit using eagle crank and rods, with je made pistons.

Thoughts?

If I had to go into an LS engine, I wouldn't put it back together with a stock stroke. Tx Speed and Summit Racing both have decently priced stroker kits. Even if you do a head and intake upgrades, the stock throttle body is fine at anything short of 550 rwhp. It's just not a restriction at that power level. At least you can take that off of your list of things to spend money on.

Ported or aftermarket heads and a FAST intake would be nice upgrades. Stock LS3 heads and stock LS3 intake manifold would be far cheaper and still a nice upgrade. The old "speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?" question comes into play here. Plus, I'm sure if I could get it done for "X", it's going to cost you 2X.

At this point, I'd tell you to not look at it as a worn out engine, look at it as an "opportunity" to upgrade.....but, I'm not going to say that...

Thanks for the advice.

I've asked for the full details on the pistons used, and also for some can recommendations
