Default Cammed A6 w/ stall

Looking at A circle D converter for my 2010 G/S 700 wrhp . stage 3 blower cam

The car drives great now with stock converter but hate when you put it n gear it pulls the engine down so much you cant hear the cam at all so I have a few questions?

1 Who has a cammed ls3 Auto w/ a 3000 stall and can you hear the chop from the cam when in drive ? Idle clips would be great in and out of drive,
2 When i talked with Circle d today they said with a 3000 stall it still would pull the engine down some in drive and eliminate some of the chop ,
3 Do you experience any heating with the aftermarket converter and what did you do to prevent this, also what temp did you experience after the stall

Just looking for info before i pull the trigger on a stall .

3600 should do the trick. You over cammed your car for a stock converter. Check with whoever you bought your cam from for advice. Texas Speed can help you also. Good people do deal with.

I have a Circle-D 2,800 stall converter in my supercharged GS.

However, my cam is stock, so I can't help you there.

As far as trans fluid temp, I had a B&M cooler installed at the same time the converter was installed. It was plumbed so the trans fluid totally bypasses the car's radiator ... just goes straight to the B&M trans cooler and then back to the transmission. The trans fluid actually runs cooler now than it did with the stock converter and no aftermarket trans cooler. Never gets above 175 degrees even here in southern Florida in the summertime.

Under normal city driving, the car drives pretty much the same as it did with the stock converter.

Using stock size tires, my GS really had no traction anytime you were at WOT ... With the Circle-D, it has even less traction. To get the benefit out of this converter, you really need a set of drag radials. It will make your car a rocket out of the hole.

One other thing I notice ... At WOT I don't loose as much rpm between shifts as I did with the stock converter. Don't 'drag down' as much between shifts.

I thought about getting a 3,400 stall converter, but I am glad I got a 2,800 ... To me, a 3,400 converter would be just too loose for a daily driver (of course, I guess you would get used to it after awhile) ... 2,800 is just about perfect considering that the stock converter has a very tight 1,500 stall.

Like I said, I am using the stock cam, but if you are using a pretty big aftermarket cam with the A6 trans, changing out the stock converter to something looser is a very good idea.
