Default C6 starting issue after new battery installation

SO NOT SURE IF ANYONE HAS THE SAME ISSUE. I replaced my battery in my 2006 today and it wouldn’t start initially.

I had removed the old dead battery two days prior so no voltage going to the car for that time.

After replacing the new battery the lights came on under the hood and dash and the doors worked and the headlights came on and wouldn’t turn off. The car wouldn’t turn over when pushing the start button and I don’t believe I even heard a click. Tried putting the remote in the activation port in the glove box and still wouldn’t start. I tried both remotes. About 15 minutes to a half hour later I tried again only this time first toggling down the lower part of the switch and the headlights that had been on all this time went off. I then immediate hit the normal start switch function and the car started?

Any ideas?

First make sure your battery terminals are tight. Loose connections can cause issues.
What battery brand did you buy?

Maybe the battery had been sitting on the shelf for a while and was mostly discharged. I always fully charge a new battery before installing it, just to make sure it starts things out correctly.

Regarding the battery terminals being tight; I suggest you pull them off, reinstall them, and push them down all of the way while rotating them a little. This will make sure the clamps are fully seated and tightening against the "fattest" part of the battery post so that you assure the best connection you can get. It certainly won't hurt anything to give it a shot.

When you remove a C4,5,6 and so on battery always plug in a supply of 9 volts into your power point prior to removal and after new battery installed remove 9 volt power supply. ( Plug into Cigar lighter) this description is for us old seniors.. I learned this when a Die Hard battery was installed in my El Camino in 1980.and the car barely started and ran like it had four good spark plugs.

While I agree in principle with "fake" with connecting residual external power to the car systems while removing batteries, this was usually used for the older cars that required resets (radio programming, clocks, etc.) and not normally needed for these cars. I have disconnected my battery several times and lost nothing. Many C6 owners put their rides to sleep for the winter & disconnect the battery, with no effects when reconnecting in the Spring. Since these cars are overly sensitive to electrical issues, you might just start over with the disconnect of the battery, put the battery on a charger as suggested to ensure a full charge before you try again, and double check when you reinstall your terminal connectors, as also suggested, ensuring they are clean, good & tight. The electrical systems will now have been "rebooted".

Hopefully, it's just this easy. Good luck.

Got to watch on the way you hook up the battery, since if you don't get the last terminal on cleanly one shot, you an glitch the modules on power up, off on again.
So in the future, if you have the same problem, disconnect which every battery post is easy to pull/install, give the car about 15 mins to drain down the modules of all their power, and make sure that you install the battery terminal once clean shot so you only have the initial spark and stay powered up from that contact.

the NEW Batts in most parts houses are just sitting on the shelf from the factory, if your luckey they tell you to come back in an hour after they burn in a fifty amp charge, WRONG! you buy a new BATT and go home with it and put it on a 5 amp charge for a couple days it will last forever.
