I recently had my torque tube and torque converter replaced and the mechanic said the car learns how I drive. The issue is it now has a surge when accelerating aggressively. Is this BS or what?

What torque converter, since surging would be coming from there, if the motor is stock and on stock tune, and it's not going to get any better.
Hence motor will self adjust it's tune to a degree, but torque converter is more of a manual device, and it not like the trans is going to change what its doing on lock up pressures instead.
On the other hand, after market converter that was different than what was in the car during a trans tune before, and you may to have the trans re-tuned isntead.
So is the surging lower speed where the converter should not have locked up yet and a converter problem, or faster RPM where the converter should be locking and unlocking instead?
Also, is the problem coming from the converter, or is it the engine that is surging isntead.
The simple answer to your question is ... The 6l80 has a "relearn" function. This is normally done after the valve body has been manipulated in some way by the service tech. Normally just r/r the trans it's not required. Yes, you may feel the car is "not driving normal" for the 1st 30 or so miles, but it should get back to normal after driving the car for awhile. I use the "relearn" function through HPTuners. I don't have a Tech2 but do have a VXDIAG. I'm not sure that function exists in either.

After you input Y into Tech2win for body type for say a 2006, go F6 trans, automatic trans, special functions, trans control module, fast learn adpt process.
Little different path on say a 2012, but just follow the power train- trans path to special functions, and it will lead you to reset trans adapts as well.
But again, if someone was working on the trans/torque converter, taps should have been done before he picked up the car to start with.
