A couple of ways to go as you probably have found out. 1) replace your H9 incandescent bulbs with HIDs - not really a good idea for obvious reasons. 2) Use LED H9 replacements - much better idea but I haven't seen any H9 LEDs that work with the factory dust covers. Maybe there are some out there somewhere? 3) Replace your factory Hi beam projectors with LED projectors - more work and $$$, but they really work well. Currently the best available lighting performance.

To get to the projectors the headlight needs to be disassembled, and the first step is to remove the lens. So there is no way around that.

The kit I bought included a custom CNC mounting bracket and two LED projectors to replace the OEM projectors, hardware, wiring harness, etc. It was a very easy install, once the headlight was apart. As far as only replacing only the Hi beam projector, that should be doable if you really want to, but I don't know if off the shelf parts are available. Check with George at Sharp Light Innovations. He invented the C6 LED headlight conversion and is an expert on automotive lighting and electrical systems. He has a big inventory of HID & LED bulbs and related parts, and is the guy who manufactures the custom wiring harnesses for making the Morimoto headlights & taillights work properly, switch back turnsignals, sequential turnsignals, hyperflash prevention, and lots of other stuff.

There are plenty of current H9 LED bulbs that will fit inside a stock dust cover. And the light output is decent, without a lot of the glare above the cutoff that older drop in LEDs had.

Good to know. Can you show us the plenty of bulbs? Links to vendors?

BTW, hi beams don't have a cutoff.

Couple of links. I have two different types of Sealight bulbs in the lows/highs in my F-150. The OEM halogen output is about like a candle. There are a lot of other brands as well, but I know the Sealights put out a decent amount of light.

I have not. Thought about swapping the highs out for the matching whiter color. The dust covers on the F-150 and my wife's Charger are flat to the housing, and these bulbs fairly easily fit in both. It's below zero here and my basement garage is cold and unheated, so I won't be checking it out. I have run into housings in the past where HID conversion wiring wouldn't fit inside. In that case I just made a small hole in the dust cover, pulled the wiring through, closed everything up, added a little silicone to seal the hole up, and kept the wiring outside the housing.

There are also several forum vendors selling the Diode Dynamics SL1 H9 bulb for C6.

Here's a picture of the rear of the headlight housing. Either bulb I referenced or the SL1 bulb will easily fit under the dust cover.

Piece of cake. There's way more room on the Vette housing than either my F-150 or the wife's Charger. But since you seem to enjoy needling people you are going on my ignore list. Don't need the constant aggravation.

I have replaced all interior lights with LEDs, Morimoto tails, blacked out LED side markers, reverse lights, fog lights, DRL switchbacks and so on. All from Cole at Vette Lights. Have been installed for around 6 months, no issues. I love the interior lighting and how clean and bright it is.

Morimoto LED tail lights purchased from 'Vette Lights'

I like the design of these tail lights much better than the flat OEM tail lights. They are much brighter that the OEM lights, and are 'plug and play' ... Installs in just minutes.

Vette Lights is a great company to purchase from and is always there to answer any questions you might have.

My wife and I talked about the safety of the OEM headlights, so I have been looking more in earnest. Honestly, I saw umnitza and meraki but had not looked at Vette Lights.
Well she is apparently happy with a bunch of carpentry and other honey-do's lately ... so I'll be installing the headlights she bought from Cole at Vette Lights.

edit: I wonder how many sets of Vette Lights Cole sells to Mustang owners? (My wife drives a Red 2014 5L Convertible Mustang M6 GT/California Special. Only 154 of these '14 CS verts in red)

Not so long ago, I also installed new bulbs on my car. Everything worked for me without problems. I did everything really on the principle of "plug and play." Maybe these bulbs do not fit your car, and you need a different brand. Try something else. It may also be that you did something wrong and because of this, there were problems. You can try light bulbs from vont.com. They know good reviews, and I think that this is not in vain. In any case, I am sure that the problem can be solved and I hope that you will solve it. Good luck with this.
