Have a 6L80 LS3 car. Is it ok for the trans to be in 5th gear at WOT? i do pulls from 50-150 or so and by 140+ the trans has shifted into 5th already... not sure if i need to get the tuner to bump the rev limiter/change the shift speeds?
Car is getting boost soon. Current setup is a max N/A setup (ported heads/cam/Rod mod intake/E85) etc..tuned by a reputable tuner.
You can just use the paddles in S mode. Or just S mode at full throttle should shift right near redline.
I have it setup where i paddle shift down manually and the car will only upshift on WOT. The redline is set to 6300RPM... im guessing that's the issue. However i would like to know if being WOT in 5th gear would hurt the trans in anyway??
You should be able to pull any gear you like at wot. The only thing that is going to hurt it is the shift itself. As long as the tune it okay I wouldn't worry about it. The down side is the performance on an overdrive gear.

Apparently the tuner either intentionally set the redline (aka engine speed/mph shift point) low to save the engine (from you) or accidentally keyed in a 3 as he was attempting to increase the limit to something more appropriate to match the mods.
You won't hurt the trans, but it will slow the rate of acceleration.
