This is on my `99 Trans Am. The LS is tired. It has 372k miles and still runs incredible! The problem is I'm getting blowby and oil leaks. I'm debating on rebuilding it since everything else on the car has been kept up over the past 18 years that I've owned her.
I have a quote for 10.5k to stroke, cam, head rebuild (853s), headers and all the associated parts and tuning. Here's where the debate is in my head (never good) .... If I didn't spend that and sell it along with a `75 vette that's collecting dust, I'm almost half way there to getting my dream low mileage C6. I really want a 2014 and up.
You put 10.5 in a car that is 22 years old and you still have a car that is 22 years old and not worth anymore before you put the money in. Sell them both and save for a C6 or C7. FYI. The last C6 was built in 2013. My opinion.

I would appreciate what your thoughts are.
2014-2019 was the C7, which is probably what you meant. I'd sell the '75 either way because you're not using it. Better to get some money and another parking space.
Ah ... yes ... I had the generations wrong. Just a note - I wouldn't be putting that kind of money into the TA for value consideration. It would be solely for me to enjoy for hopefully many more years with that kind of power.

The wife would probably take over that area in the garage.
As someone who went from a 300zx, to a 94 z28, to a 99 C5, to an 11 grand sport, save the money and get a vette. The driving experience and the comradery that comes with the vette life is leaps and bounds better than an fbody. Sure the fbody may be faster dumping all that money into it, but its still an Fbody. Oddly enough, thats what porsche guys say about vettes, and lambo guys say about porsche, and mclaren guys say about lambo and on and on. And if you were going to dump that much money into the car it would be really silly to use 853 heads. I would scratch that build just on the 853's alone.

That's one reason why I like this LQ9 long block that I'm looking at ....with LS3 heads. It's a 6.0 and I can do that for 2k less than the first option. But I also like what you have in that C6 grand sport.

The c5 was better than the fbody by leaps and bounds, and the 6 grand sport is leaps and bounds better than the c5. Im sure the c7 is better than the c6, I just dont care for the way they look unless theyre wide body, but even then the c6 is a lot cheaper to modify.
I like the looks of the C6 over the C5. I passed on a C5 a few years ago that only needed an engine and he was selling the car for 6K. I still kick myself to this day.

That would have been a great buy, for 10k you could have a running car with a modded 5.3 in it.
Hello
I have just purchased a 2012 grand sport Centennial edition. I know that their were 1044 GS centennial made what I cant find is how many of the 1044 came with automatics. I saw something like 462 but I didn't bookmark the page and I cant it now.
So if you know the answer or can point me to a site that might have the answer. I have looked at all the common wed sites.

Welcome to the forums Jerry. It’s best you start your own thread so you don’t hijack this one. I don’t think they break it down by manuals and automatics, but about only 30% of all c6’s sold were manuals.
Thanks for all the advice and thoughts. I've decided to go with the build which will start in mid May. The only reason that I am willing to put that kind of money into it is because everything has been replaced and besides the engine, needs nothing.
This build has been delayed and will start June 7th. I've added an LS6 intake and 241 heads (same as 853s that are on it). I've also added some 3 point welded UMI subframe connectors. Should be a beast.

I did this. I had a CLEAN c4 with 66k miles. Was looking at almost 20k in it if I built it, instead got a c6,
