Default crossover pipe

I have headers to sidepipes on my '66BB, and I noticed a slight popping(motorboat) noise in the exhaust note. I researched it in previous posts and found others have experienced the same type noise. Several photos were shown of crossover pipes and reports were that it gave a deeper, more mellow exhaust note and eliminated the "motorboat" sound. Have not installed one on my car but I intend to. Looks like an easy install for a muffler shop.

X-pipe is better for sound and for power.

I knew it was better for power, but how much extra power is it really adding you figure? Not arguing btw, just genuinely curious

A few hp if that. An x pipe reduces turbulence so you get less popping on decel.

Default H or X pipe

Obviously the X pipe provides a slight increase in power or NASCAR wouldn't be using them. With sidepipes it's next to impossible to design an X pipe, I'm going with a crossover pipe(H pipe sort of) on my BB with headers to smooth out my exhaust note.
