Going to add a Corsa Sport axle back to my 05 Base M6.
My question is should I change the H pipe out right away to an X pipe or is it not worth the cost?
The new system is 2.5" so no change in diameter.
Depending upon the exhaust system, some use the different pipes for the sound. The H pipe typically offers a deeper hot rod sound, while the X pipe, a more exotic higher pitched sound.
Check wth the muffler manufacturer to see what they recommend for their system.
The X pipe generally offers an improved exhaust flow with equalized pressure on both banks which will increase power at all RPM's.

Thanks for your input.
I went from stock manifolds with stock H pipe/modded Flowmaster mufflers to LT headers, X pipe, with the same Flowmaster mufflers and it sounds different, for the better.
ok here is a twist in this little project.
At some point my 05 base had an NPP exhaust added sooo its a 3" pipe from about a foot or 2 behind the cat all the way back.
To add my Corsa axle back to the existing system I would be going from 2.5 to 3 then back to 2.5 which seems really dumb. I didnt realize it was all 3" until crawling under there today and noting the difference.
Kind of hate to take a 3" system off and change back to a 2.5" system. My question is does it really matter in a stock engine to run 3"? I had read that unless you were running a turbo or supercharger that a 3" is a waste, is that true and if so then my Z06 NPP 3" could come off and pay for a good part of a 2.5" x pipe.

I agree on the X. Yes it’s higher for mine but does sound more exotic
