"Thump" noise dilemma.

"Thump" noise dilemma.
My friend's 2012 C-6 Grand Sport.
1st gear, let out clutch...There is a noise.
It's a "thump", not a "clang".
It seems to be coming from underneath, on the right side near the passenger seat.
The clutch is fine.
There is nothing "hanging loose" or "swinging around" anywhere. in site.
Anyone have that problem or have a suggestion?
