well that’s exactly why I’m leaning real hard towards having the shop put a cam in for me. I had planned on doing a cam down the road, mainly because I’m still running stock manifolds/X-pipe BUT I could just get the cam now and just add long tubes later!

But I’m on the fence.... because unless they figure out where the failure is then putting a new cam in will prob be a waste of money since it most likely would get ruined.

yup, but man if they don't find the culprit i would go with johnson lifters. one of my friend had a new used block machine done. he keep blowing out a lifter and cam i thing 3 times. he bit the bullet and changed the block. they could not find what was wrong with it. measured everything nothing stuck out. new block problem gone. i forgot did they change the cam or take it out and look at it???????

Yeah I prob will go with the Johnsons... they said that they looked at the cam when the heads were off before, the cam was not pulled tho so I assume they weren’t able to inspect it thoroughly... I may be wrong tho.
cars in the shop now tho and they said they were gonna pull the valley cover and look at it again.
Hey, sorry I don’t have much of an update on this situation yet other than my car is still at the shop and the motor is getting pulled. Gonna get all new bearings, new cam, possibly lifters if mine are damaged and new oil pump. Hopefully since they are going to tear it down the culprit will show itself but maybe not… I just hope this is gonna have it in good shape.

Kind of funny that you revived this thread today because I literally went late yesterday evening and picked up my car from the shop. Unfortunately the shop has been so backed up with work that they never got to start on it and I thought about it for a good while and decided to just go get it and drive it. They pretty much said it was gonna be a long time before they could work on it and I had already been having second thoughts on pulling the motor anyway. I know a lot of people are going to think I’m crazy for driving it considering there are metal shavings in the oil but honestly I’m to the point now where I’m tired of worrying about it and I’m just going to drive it and enjoy it and keep an eye on it. It runs fine and it honestly sounds fine…. No one would ever know there’s something wrong with it if they weren’t aware of the metal shavings. If it starts making unusual sounds or starts missing or anything like that I’ll park it. Hell I’m not even entirely sure that I have an actual problem. I’ve always been the kind of person to fix something as soon as I find out there’s a problem but in this case I’m having a hard time justifying doing a full rebuild on the motor without the car running bad or making any crazy noises…. We’ll see what happens I guess, I’ll keep y’all posted
