So i'm looking to pick up a C6 to build with my son. Planning on a stroker 416 with blower. Does it even matter if I get an LS2 or an LS3? They're so similar. Looking at 900ish hp.
Unless you planning on replacing the stock LS2 heads ... the LS2 heads and intake manifold combo don't flow nearly as good as the LS3 heads and intake manifold combo.
Oh it's all going. It's just the block i'll use i'm sure.
Typically, with each revision of the LS engine, there were improvements to the blocks in strength and in other areas so I would go LS3. And the LS3 has a few extra cubic inches versus the LS2.

It will be stroked so I don't care about the extra cubes, just the strength.
With your plans, it would be cheaper to start with an LS2 Vette. I'd look for an '06 or '07 as they had a stronger rear end vs an '05. You'd end up with 402ish cubic inches with a 4" stroke crank as the LS2 has a 4" bore vs the LS3's 4.065" bore. An LS3 top end (heads and intake manifold) for your 402 would be a nice upgrade for not a whole lot of cash. You might consider ratcheting back your HP goals as 900 rwhp can sure eat some drive train parts. 750 is a whole lot of fun and you'll spend more time enjoying it and less time working on it.

Excellent thanks so much. Great advice.

No way. He has a V6 Mustang. He's many years from a fast car. Just something for us to build and drag race together.
