Car went into limp mode twice after flaring pretty bad on the 2-3 and later the 4-5 shifts. Got it to advanced auto and checked the codes. I had p0878 trans fluid pressure sensor and p2724 solenoid e. Disconnected the battery and it drove home fine (except for the same shift flares bit very minor) though all the gears in all the modes and through the paddles. Get about a mile from my house and i then lose all foward gears but still have reverse. Pulled the tcm fuse to engage limp mode and got her home. Shes up on the ramps waiting for me to get home from work today and pull the pan and see what i can see. Im hoping for one of the .25 inch plastic check ***** to be stuck which happens alot. Got a filter and fresh fluid for reassembly. Is there anything i can do to help diagnose this while its all apart? I see that those codes and flares can often be intermittant due to debris and not neccesarily indicitive of hard damage. Seems like reseting the tcm can help alot of times too. Thoughts and suggestions welcome. I have a trans tune scheduled in a couple weeks at tk performance so im really hoping this is an easy fix. Thanks for reading.

I'd start by finding somebody with a Tech 2 and have them do a Fast Learn procedure and then reset the trans adapts. On two separate occasions this has corrected issues where my car wouldn't shift properly at the track at WOT. Mine wasn't as bad as yours though but it may still help.
Fluid and filter change by itself is unlikely to help but if you are gonna dig that far into it, I'd then recommend putting in a new seal kit:
I do know people who have had dirty valve bodies cleaned by the dealer with mixed results so that might be your next step.
If that still doesn't help then you might be looking at a rebuild. I'd definitely not spend money on having the transmission tuned until you get the issue sorted out because despite what they may tell you, a tune by itself will definitely not fix your problem.
Thank you subfloor and just for clarification purposes... i had the trans tune scheduled for a week before these issues popped up so no the tuner has not made any kind of claims to be able to fix this via tune. Havent even spoken to them about it yet. Pans about to come off in a few minutes here then ill report back with any finds.
Sounds like it will need to be rebuilt. My transmission did all the same things and it was toast internally. How much power does your car have? Do you have a trans cooler?
But as Subfloor said try the fast learn first, but it doesn't sound good at all. I would say expect the worst.
Please forgive my attempt at staying positive throughout this ordeal 😆 i have had this car for not even 3 weeks and havent really beat on it more than a few times. Checked and added almost 2 quarts of atf as soon as i got it home the first day. Car has an ecs blower and only 36,ooo miles. How many of those are supercharged is unknown. Of course there was fine metal sludge all over the magnet and a long (1 inch) curly cue of metal hanging out of the center clutch pack along with my smiley face. Any guesses on what broke? How hard is it to drop one of these transmissions and do yall know any reputable builders in sw pa?

I wrote a guide on how to pull it. Shoot me an email and I'll send it to you.
Nah it was warm like 90 to 100. Leveled the car. Ran it through the gears multiple times with a 3 to 5 sec pause in each gear. Seems like a lil over fill is common even reccomended in these cars anyways.
Not sure about your relationship with the previous owner/seller, but he sold you a really broken car that is going to need thousands of dollars worth of repair work. A rebuild the right way on 6l80E is super expensive. 5k plus. Might want to contact them.
Started tearing it out and atleast i found one good thing during this whole deal.... and dang this drivers side billy boat muffler is being a real bish to get out
RPM used to rebuild 6L80e's but quit after a short time IIRC.
Unsure if you have a vendor lined-up yet?
I had a couple different options and ended-up going here based off their reputation and experience. I worked directly with the tech, upgraded everything to level 4 (which was quite spendy) including in-house spec'd built converter.
They have a ton of positive reviews.
Top notch tranny shop for sure. https://gearstar.com/6l80-transmissi...ith-converter/
Found this lil bugger hiding in there... found out its a precision 10.5 2400 stall. Sending it back to get cut and cleaned and restalled to 3200 for $295. Between finding this and the rpm built diff, almost makes it all worth while lol
Idk if i need that much honestly. Its paxton blown with a small cam and meth so its got plenty of power and im really only gonna launch it on radials at the track a few times a year. Maybe a lil more often on the street and definately alot of rolls. I definately need a sub 9.9 timeslip in my hand tho
