I am new here and a first time Corvette owner. This site is awesome!!
I have a 2009 base convertible, Z51, 3LT, standard, 40,000 miles. I have had it about 10 days. When I picked up form very reputable used dealership in Webster, TX. they had run thru shop and fixed a couple codes. One code though has come back up, P0303. The car dealer has stated that they plan to stand behind it but its 4 hours away. They suggested I send to a local shop in which I did and they checked the car out, coil, compression, valve train all good, replaced spark plug, sent 2 treatments of de-carbon stuff down it. They said MAYBE? They then said if this doesnt fix it prolly needs a valve job from setting alot and cheap gas over its life span. Picked up car yesterday and within 50 miles it throws engine light. I am assuming same issue.
My question is does the above sound logical? What if anything am I missing before returning it to where I purchased it and telling them to fix it. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated.
Was that injector looked at ??…seems like all ignition parts were replaced except plug wire…without some specialized equipment like a scope the best you can do is clean or replace…with a bi directional scan tool and a fuel pressure gauge one can do an “injector balance test” and see if that #3 injector may be clogged or you may have faulty injector. Some valve train faults can look good on a compression gauge but still be faulty !!…the more advanced shops (see video below) can do an in cylinder pressure analysis and see what’s going on in the cylinder which is just an air pump without fuel and ignition present…the waveform for a good cylinder will look way different if it’s bad and not letting the air in and out of the cylinder…you can have a stuck intake/exhaust valve or wiped cam lobe which would be fine on a compression gauge but cause a misfire if it doesn’t open !!…this is what a good cylinder looks like on my 01 when I tested it !!..not much to look at but a wealth of info there !!…also a good idea to include in your profile all mods, your location, tune ??, model year etc…helps us help you !!
