A ticking noise while driving
I have a 2009 coupe and lately I am hearing this sort of ticking noise or like a short sort of noise down by my push start button almost like the sound that the button makes when it is pressed and the car starts if you know that sound... It only makes noise when I am rolling and driving not at stops ... it just goes tactic tic tic tic tic tic real fast like a short sound electrical short or a intermittent ticking totally random and I cant seem to pinpoint it but it sounds like the start button is going bad maybe ?? Any advice with that? Thanks

reminds me of the sound i had on a c5 with the hazard switch. Was a common issue needing replacement but usually i got it to stop by pressing the button again.
Issue is you say it does not do it while in park or neutral. Check your tires for a rock or wheel speed sensors plugged in or someone taped a baseball card to your spokes =)

I will but it is the exact noise you here from the start stop button when you press on it. That sort of ticking sound that goes away and now it is starting to make that same sound as I am driving and it goes away when I come to a stop. Maybe you dont know the noise I am trying to explain but my Vette makes a clicking sound when I start it that comes from the start button .. I just noticed the engine light is now on as well ... I wonder if these are somehow related ...

The sound you hear when you push the stop start button could be a relay or your starter itself.
The only noise that I can think of that matches a tick tick tick is the starter cranking over or trying to
crank and you are hearing the solenoid.

Might be a failing fan on the interior temperature system used by your HVAC. The sensor is located right next to your start button and behind some louvers in the dash panel piece. This sensor has a small fan to circulate air. Just something else that might be a contributor to your problem. Hope this helps & let us know the cause & solution.

So I was wondering if anyone knows that sound that I am describing first of all ? It is the sound that your start button makes when you press it .... Or maybe nobody's corvette but mine makes this noise.? hmmm I actually remember hearing it when I owned my 06 vette and so when this 09 made the same sound when I started it up, I thought nothing of it .. But now hearing these replies which in themselves are telling me something if nothing... it is very hard to record the noise as it is not to loud and it is just a faint clicking noise but I am going to try to tonight oh never mind tomorrow because it will be much to loud with fireworks and such. It is if you were taking two live wires very small wires and just barely touching them together and sending out a morris code of some kind, just a totally random zz zzz zz zz zz z z zzz zz z zzz z zzzz very faint noise but with the radio off and windows up you can definitely hear it and so I guess since nobody is replying with" oh yes that noise when you press the start button " then I am thinking mine is going bad but if anyone knows that sound then please reply and Once again !! Thank You for the reply and the help I do appreciate it so much as this Forum has been a huge help with all of my little issues I have and thank you !!

That is very possible and it is the noise that it would make if it was barely touching something while spinning like if one of the blades were slightly bent but I turned the entire HVAC system off and it still does it the same exact way as when it is on... So would that fan spin when the system is off? Also it is periodic but mostly it does do it seldom it does not and my check engine light was off today as well ... ?? so not connected to this I guess. Anyway you certainly know my sound or kinda by your description and location as I cant pinpoint where it is coming from while driving but it is right at the start button and I guess your vette makes no noise when you start it at all ? no little clicking noise that is gone after it starts ? ever ?

Yeah me neither it actually is intermittent so that noise does sound like relays firing and I just could not explain it correctly I guess so all of the C6 vetted make that noise while starting .... hmmm thats what I thought but nobody could understand my description but it is not doing it now but it does on occasion , I swear !! It is like I took it to the shop and it stopped doing it as soon as I pull into the shop to get it looked at .. lol you know what I mean right please someone say yes or I am going to not be well. lol Thanks man everyone !!

Replaced starter button, No help. Noise still present.
