Default LS3 crate motor - dipstick?

The saga of my engine continues.

If you missed our last episode: I discovered that my 2011 (base) has a motor manufactured in 2016. Among other things: when I bought the car, it had a Camaro oilpan. Current working theory based on some insanely helpful people on the forum and their contacts, as well as a close look at the tune, is that this car had forced induction at some point. In 2015, the motor blew. Sometime before I bought it in 2020, it was replaced with a crate LS3.
After I had the car for about a month, I discovered an oil leak in my driveway. Took the car back to the dealer, and was told that (surprise) it had a Camaro oil pan. To their credit, they replaced it on their dime.

But, it just occurred to me that the dipstick is likely different. The Camaro oil pan is deep and narrow while the C6 pan is wider and shallow(er).

Is the dip stick the same part? I know that on some engines (I put three in my old Solstice), the dipstick is different for different applications which have different oil pans.

I'm not having any luck finding part numbers; thought I'd ask here on the off chance anyone has installed a crate engine or scavenged an LS3 from a Camaro.

Happy 4th!

If you are certain you have the correct oil pan I would check the owners manual to see what the oil capacity is. Drain the oil and refill it with the correct capacity then check it with the dip stick. This should tell you if the stick is measuring correctly.

Good advice! I did this same thing on my 2000 C5, since the engine builder "lost" my original dipstick. GM redesigned them at some point, so I had to get the new style, which read a bit different. So I filled it with the correct amount of oil, and put a new mark on the dipstick. All good!!

Is the crate LS3 Camaro and the Vette oil quantity the same amount (quarts)?

Probably not. The C5 "batwing" probably holds a bit more. Call the Stealer and check. They should be good for something!!!
