Default LS2 Ticking

I just purchased my first 07 C6 base Z51, I’ve had it three days and today I noticed there is a louder ticking coming from the driver side near the fender. I tried changing to a thicker oil, hoping it would help but no luck. Any idea what this could be? It’s for sure bottom end, and has no effect on how the car preforms. The only modification is a cold air intake.

The first thing that comes to my mind is an exhaust gasket leak. It’s not that uncommon.

My ls3 had a noise, not a tick though, spark plug wire was off, easy check to check out the spark plug wires.

Do you hear the tick when the engine is cold as well as warm?

All good above: spark plug wire, exhaust leak, oil change.

Tick to me refers to lifters, but also exhaust and loose/ leaking spark.
Maybe a lifter is gummed up so some disassembly is needed as multiple oil changes may not clean it enough.

Good luck and let us know.
