Default Dim Display

Regarding my 2006 Base Coupe:

The 'information display in my cluster is always dim (soft) like for night driving. The only time I see it bright, is when I get a warning, like HEADLIGHT SUGGESTED, etc.
I don't believe it was always such. During the day in bright light, the display is almost impossible to see.
Do I have something set wrong? Di I have a failed part? WHAT!! Driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance for any help in solving this issue!
(The display I am referring to is the Odometer, trip mileage, mpg, display, etc. in the instrument cluster, not the HUD! It is fine!)

I assume you are referring to the Driver Information Center. Did you try to increase brightness with the Instrument Panel Brightness Control (Item N on page 3-4 of the owner's manual)?

Does a defective sensor on the dashbord grill cause this issue? I have no "instrument panel cluster" lighting.

You are correct, Item N has been adjusted and it has no affect on the DIC. (Push in and turn clockwise to brighten, counter clock to dim.) I have never adjusted it at night...I need to check it in the darkness of my garage..don't know if the panel lights dim or not. Fuse, maybe??

I should add, that the instrument lights and the DIC panel do dim, from off to barely able to see. At night, it is satisfactory, but during the day, no so.

Any thoughts on what to look for? Is there a small computer that controls that? Something that is fused? Perhaps the light sensor on the dash is defective...has anyone ever experienced a failure there? What is involved to replace it, should i need to do so?

And, if no answers are forthcoming here,m where is the best place to look for an answer to troubleshooting?
