My car has just above 17,000 miles, with just over 1K added since I bought it back in December '20. Yesterday, I changed the trans fluid with P/N 88861800. I have no idea if the outgoing fluid was the original, but it had a bit of a metallic sheen to it. Upon startup this morning, shifts felt great!...smoother than I've experienced since buying the car. However, as things heated up (drove around for an hour or so), shifting seemed a bit more laborious. Shouldn't things loosen up when the trans warms up?
Car is a base model, non-Z51, and I drained something between 3-3.5 quarts of fluid. Replaced with about the same. During the change, I had the front wheels up on homemade wooden ramps (4.5 inches up) and had the rear end up on jack stands (a bit higher than the front). Is that a problem when replacing the trans fluid, or only when replacing the diff fluid? Not sure that has anything to do with the shifting issue, but just curious.
Oh, and the shifter is stock, but with a TMOD lower control box with around 300-400 miles.
ya i think you should get it up and level, then check the fluid level. If low add more. i just changed mine a couple weeks ago. shifts felt smoother immediately and no issues once warm.
also i believe there are magnets on the drain and fill bolts. be sure to wipe them off and see what you get.
