Default Rebuilding LS2 / NEED HELP

Hey everyone,

my LS2 has worn out piston rings, and consumes loads of oil. 1L pr 300km

That needs to be addressed, so I can enjoy my C6 2006 A6 Corvette!

Therefore, I’m rebuilding it…

current mods (Vararam CAi, headers with sports cat, Borla ATAK exhaust)

engine has 120.000 miles on it, and runs good overall.

in the rebuild I’ll be replacing the transmission with a rebuilt one from MAD DOG TRANS.

Engine wise, what would you guys be doing to it? I’m not looking for huge gains, but some would be appreciated…

I was thinking …

CAM kit (228 cam?) new lifters etc which comes with the kit…

New oil pump…

All new seals all around…

ATi harmonic balancer…

Ported heads…

New intake - FAST 102?

The car will be daily driven, therefore I’m not interested in the wildest cam.

I’m from Denmark, so it’s very important for me to buy a Cam Kit/Components where it’s possible to have a mail order tune loaded into the car, there are not really any specialist for tuning an LS2 modded engine here in Denmark.

Do you guys know of a tuner, or may be running a similar setup you could recommend?

Thank you very much!

I highly recommend Ryne Cunningham of BRC Race works https://brcraceworks.com/
You will need to get the HP Tuners tuning software as well aprox. $450 USD
If you stick with the stock converter in your A6 keep the cam down to some where in the lower 222/226 115 lsa something that has 0 to -2 overlap

I’m not a cathedral port guy, I have a set of 823 casting rec port heads that will be going on my LS2 so I can eventually install my LSA supercharger. In the mean time I can use one of the many great options for LS3 intake manifolds. Lots of people will tell you there is nothing wrong with the 243 heads and I won’t argue the point, just my personal preference.

Mad Dog Transmissions has a LOT of bad reviews...stay away.
For a 6L80e transmission:
Gearstar Transmissions, Century Transmissions or Circle D would be my choice. None are cheap options, but they stand behind their product.
