Default Air Intake Removal

I'd like to clean the MAF sensor on my 2006 coupe. After loosening the throttle body clamp, I have been unable to remove the air intake tunnel. It looks like the two rubber grommets should pop free, but they don't want to budge. I'm concerned that if I force it, i may create a condition when I'm done that will allow the air intake to rattle or even move out of place. What am I doing wrong?

Is the air intake still OEM, or did someone install an aftermarket cold air intake like the Varoom, that is attached/runs through the bottom shield as well.

If stock system, then just use some silcone spray to loosen up the ***** through the rubber grommets.

If aftermarket cold air intake, then will need to unbolt the lower section that is attached/runs through to the lower sheild.

Instead of messy silicone spray just use Windex on the bushings.

Thing is, the silicone spray will condition the rubber, making it easier to remove at a later time and lasting longer.

The ammonia in Windex will dry out the rubber faster once it dries, just makes the rubber harder/causing you to have to replace them sooner as they start to crack apart sooner.

Dano. The silicone spray is messy. The Windex isn’t. Hence silicone spray requires clean up where Windex doesn’t. Enough said.

OEM intake. I used a trim/molding removal tool to get under the bushing and pop the plastic pin straight up. I was having a hesitation on full throttle about 2/3 up the power curve and thought I'd try cleaning the MAF sensor. I haven't had the chance to really open it up, but so far it's running fine. We're getting plenty of rain here in NJ, so I probably won't be able to find a back road for a few days.

Walmart for a spray can of super tech silicone spray, which dries in seconds and does not leave behind a wet mess of other additives in the spray that stay wet for hours.
