I been looking around the forums but can’t find a optima battery spec that I can run in my 06 z06? Any information would be great because optima dosent make one specifically for it what have you guy use and also open to other brands
Not the same batteries once Johnson bought them out, but #75/25 will fit with light mod'g to the hold down clamps.
Note, battery terminals on early to later C6'd did change in post sides, so check your current battery terminal sides to make sure that the positive terminal is on the correct side (will be on the left hand side on the 75/25).
Myself, can get the Diehard AGM's from Sam's for $100, and will last just as long as one of the new Johnson optima batteries, plus don't have to mod the cars hold down clamps to work with that battery.

I've been running one for 10+ years, my trick was to lay a 78 on it's side and use side terminal-to-post adapters. This gave me the correct terminal orientation. And the 78 has a vent provision (others can do what they want but I was not going give up the ability to vent the battery to the outside of the cabin).
fits like a glove - you would not want to go any physically larger as you still have to miss the tie down uprights.
Is it vented? I was looking at the Odyssey PC1200MJT but it isn’t. The manufacturer says it’s fine for it not to be but there isn’t a definitive opinion out there that AGM batteries don’t need it.

This style of Optima is sealed, no venting.
You can mount these batteries in any position, even upside down. Not sure why you would mount it upside down - but you can
The Optima website says that their batteries do not normally vent hydrogen gas but that they have the potential to, "when charged aggressively." Yes, AGM batteries have advantages over conventional batteries but the bottom line is they still use lead acid chemistry and can vent hydrogen gas. You guys can do what you want but I say "no thanks" to the possibility of flammable inside the cabin.
The website also used to have detailed PDFs that gave detailed measurements and told which batteries have vent provisions. Now info is minimal and if you want to know if a specific model is vented you have to find one to look at. And when they give physical dimensions, does the depth/height include the terminals? Best bet is to go find one in a store and bring your tape measure.

some people overthink things.
my car has had 2 sealed Optima batteries over the last 9 years, so far there have been no reported deaths and no fiery explosions.
I totally agree. But also: some people under think things.

Your anecdotal evidence that it's ok to ignore the warnings falls into the category of "it works until it doesn't." I'll grant the risk is not great but the downside sure is!
As I've said a few times now, please do as you like.

I put more research into this, turns out the dimensions changed on the latest revision of the Redtop 78. It's minor, but curious to see if it still fits since you mentioned it was barely fitting in the first place:
I most likely will get one of these because I want to keep the use of the vent hose, we'll see what happens. It might take another month or so until I get my car back though, I'll report back when I can give it a shot.
