Default A/C clutch problem

So my ac was making a hell of a racket. I went under the car and removed the belt so I can still drive the car, it is my DD. I noticed the whole clutch assembly was loose, pulley and all. If I turned the ac on the noise went away and the car blew cool air (before I removed the belt). I looked in my manual and i see that there is a bolt or screw holding the disc on but there is no part number that I can find. Does anyone know what type and size this bolt is? I'm going to try replacing the bolt first rather than replacing the compressor because it looks to be a pain in the *** to do. A picture would help also this way I know what I'm looking for. Thanx in advance for any help you can give me.

Last spring i went through the exact same scenario. I was kind of expecting it since i had the same approx mileage on my previous corvette as well! Not allot of room to work. My zr 1 had 3 bolts and 1 stud with nut. The stud was stuck really good to the block. Little room to the frame rail. Ended up have to jack the the motor up to pull the compressor out. Lots of accessories had to be removed including the water pump. Good luck!

And here's how to remove the clutch. The manual doesn't say, but it may be possible to remove the clutch from the compressor with the compressor still mounted. Only one screw to remove, and you would not have to discharge/recharge the freon. Let us know how it works out.
