Default Which Axle Shaft???

There is so much different information out here on the web and i do not want to buy the incorrect parts so.........
I have a 2008 Z51 A6 with just over 200,000 miles and I did a cam and things recently so I'm wanting to do some more preventative maintenance.
I'm wanting to replace the rear Axle shafts and there very different opinions out there and it's a bit confusing even at the GM web sites. Some say that I can use C5 Z06 axle shafts. Most sources say 2005 thru 2013 are all the same. I don't think this is True?

Thru GM I get these part numbers...
22873444 they say these will fit a Base, Z51 and a Z06. These are around $200 each.
25941372 they say these will fit a Base, Z51 and a Z06. These are around $340 each.
Does anybody know for sure?

Not 100% sure, but I believe the 444 is the base axle, and the 372 is the pre 09 Z06 axle. The C5 axle is the popular upgrade

I have found that rockauto is a good source for part numbers. Looks like the 4444 number is correct.

so would that be the C5 base axle or the C5 Z06 axle?

So when you have these types of questions, a quick source of part number info is any GM dealer's back door website. I generally use www.gmpartsoutlet.net since they are local to me, but most dealers have an online parts back door.

Thank you for the link. I have a similar link to another dealer that is where I got the part numbers I listed in my opening post.
I guess my real question should be... what is the better of the 3 I have listed GM parts would be the best If I am going to buy brand new axle shafts from GM. and does the C5 axle shaft actually fit and is it better.
Some sites say all 05 - 13 are the same. some say that in 2009 they made a spline change and they will not fit the 05-08. Too many different facts out there.

AFAIK the 2009 spline change only applies to the Z06. Basically it switched to the same as the then new ZR1. My 2009 base is 30 spline like the earlier cars and C5s.
To answer the what's better question, I was told by rpm transmission that if I wanted stronger axles to get the C5 axles. I also know that they made a few changes through the years to the C6 Z06 axles before switching to 33 spline. The newest version seems to be pretty good, which I believe is the 372 you referenced. I don't know what's better between the 372 and 444 though, although I would have to think the Z06 axles would be stronger.
I did a lot of searching for axle info a few years ago when I did gears. Hard to find much info on base axles. Lots of info on the known to break early C6 Z06 axles

I've replaced the nuts twice on one side and once on the other and torqued them to 160 ft. lbs. I've been reading here and other places about that torque being too much and breaking the axle at the bearing. Car is my DD and just broke 200,000 miles and to be on the safe side I'd like to replace them and the bearings also. I was looking at Timkin for wheel hubs front and rear.
