So i am getting this weird noise recently when i go into first gear, and i cant even explain it but it only started a month or so ago after we got really cold weather up here and i really had no choice but to drive it since my jeep died in January. it sounds like a grinding noise or maybe lack of lubrication or something? anyway, i checked the clutch fluid and its pretty dark, im gonna change that tonight, i did about two years ago and ive had the car for 4 years and never had heard this noise before until now. any suggestions or help would be grateful. and its only making the noise in 1st gear, rarely 2nd.
A change of transmission fluid might help if it's been a long time since it has been changed. The first gear synchronizer may be going bad. If that's the case, there is no easy solution. You would have to open up the transmission and replace the synchronizer and possibly other parts depending on inspection results.

sorry i also forgot to mention it makes the noise in reverse as well. but it doesnt make the noise any other time. not that i can hear anyway.
Ranger method for the clutch fluid change, since contaminated fluid will cause the slave cylinder throw out bearing to be not be pushed far enough for a clean release of the clutch. Also, take a look at the tank for the clutch fluid, since if it clear, then old master cylinder in play, while if tank is black and has Dot 4 on the cover, then updated master in play instead.
As for trans fluid, if black, that comes from a great deal of synchro pad wear in the first place. So on note, start with pulling just the fill plug (which fluid level should be to the bottom of the plug channel), and get a sample of fluid out of the trans to see the color of it. In your case, looking for more of a problem of darker red burnt fluid that fluid change will resolve, and not fluid more on the black side from syncro dust of them worn out, and fluid change is not going to resolve.
Last one would be how bad the clutch was abused, since too much clutch heat can melt the throw out bearing race and with it protruding, will be binding on the pressure plate fingers.
I bought an '08 base about a month ago, and I was wondering why there was a turkey baster and DOT4 in the trunk cubby. I found shifting from neutral to 1st & reverse notchy and difficult. Learned about the Ranger method here and went out this morning to give it a try. It was pretty ugly in there! It took 3 flushes to get it clear, I did a fourth to be sure. Haven't had a chance to drive the car yet due to rain, but I'll report back. It took about 15 minutes.
