Having a little issue, have to go in for emissions and wanted to check my drive cycle with obd2 scanner before wasting my time. All cycles showed ok, however it shows codes stored (no check engine light). I selected to clear the codes which the reader said i did, but when i went back to check, the codes are still there. I did not even start the car in between. I am not sure why these codes wont even clear out but dont show a light either. Anyone else have this? Suggestions?
The MIL( check engine light) does not illuminate for all DTC’s…only emission related ones…which DTC do you have ??…sometimes disconnecting the battery will clear them.
O2 sensor codes.
i had the battery disconnected. Only showed up when i read codes. I could understand if I cleared them, started the car and they came back, but i clear and then scan again right away, still there

Well if it comes back immediately you have a hard fault and it will have to be fixed…if these were O2 sensor codes did you fix it ??

No, i have not done anything with it yet. I wasto clear and see if the code would come back after a drive cycle. In my past experience, if you clear a code then start the car and it come back you have an issue. Ive never seen where the code wont clear at all and stays in the ecm without starting the car again. If i replace the o2 sensor that is causing the issue, im not sure how this will be reset then?

After it is fixed the ECM will clear the DTC after the 3rd drive cycle...the scan tool isn't the only way to clear a DTC.
