Default TSP header clearance

Has anyone had trouble with fitment on Texas speed longtube headers? Mine have started to rub on the passenger frame of my 2008 base. Time to get the hammer?

I had tried a set of Texas long tube headers on my C5 Z06 and they would rub on the frame no matter how much I tried to adjust them.

Best thing to do is remove them and buy a set of Kooks. Kooks will fit perfect every time.

I've done a few on cars before and they always have that same issue. Vibration never goes away but I usually cut off a very small piece on car. It's about a 1/2" lip I believe. I shave it down so there's enough room and just end up spraying some paint on it to avoid rust. Never had an issue. Also the o2 sensors are kinda tight up there as well. Overall they sound great for the price and are built well just not a perfect fit.

I was curious if I was the only one. The passenger header has killed 2 o2 sensors so far, and number 3 is on its way out. I contacted tsp twice to try getting a replacement, but no luck. Are they still in business? I may have to just get some kooks.

Yes they are definitely still in business I just spoke with someone last week and I think the way the o2s are positioned they tend to die fast honestly also the wires literally hang sit right on the heat shield if you haven't noticed that as well. I try to bang them out and make some room so they aren't tight against the shield. My personal Vette has kook's and they're great. Of course more money but you pay for what you get. I have high flow cats on my car so if you get cooks with catless I'd be willing to trade 😂

Ouch that sucks. I would probably just dent them.

I bought American Racing Headers, and in the instructions, they say that you'll have to trim that area of the floor on the passenger side on some cars. It's not uncommon.

They fit poorly, hang low, burn through O2 sensors, and have poor low end performance. Picked up a huge amount of torque switching to American Racing. TSP headers also sound different

And that is why I always recommend Kooks over ARH. I had ARH and I also had to hammer the pinch weld on the frame for them to fit. That is completely unacceptable for a supposedly premium header. I expect that sort of crap from headers off of eBay.

ARH says in their instruction that you may need to clearance the frame in that area. BS, they were just lazy and did not put in the time to design the headers properly.

Kooks fit and no BS in the instructions on having to hammer on your car to make them fit.

Either buy the speed engineering or jump up to ARH or kooks. I initially was going to get speed engineering because I had eBay headers on my C5 and it ran its *** off. X pipe wasn’t in stock so bit the bhullet and got ARH, months later the x pipe still wasn’t in stock for the SE. The TSP price point looks decent at first, but it seems more people have fitment issues with them than the SE and they’re more expensive. Still hurt spending close to 2 grand on some stainless steel pipes.
