Repair Broken A6 Shift Cable from Below???
I'm wondering if the broken shift cable forward bushing can be replaced from below. My son now owns the 2007 A6 coupe and is in Fla, about 500 miles away. He can do the "remove console and shifter" repair, but has not looked underneath yet. As I remember, there is a large aluminum stiffener plate, that covers the whole tunnel area. If that is removed, would it give you good access to the shifter/cable connection? Has anyone looked at it that way or even did it?
I'm probably thinking wrong, but it seems like it might be as easy as, remove tunnel plate, replace shifter bushing, replace tunnel plate, done!
