C-6 Gas Cap

C-6 Gas Cap
Hi , My 2006 C6 is giving me Gas Cap problems causing check Engine light. I bought a new cap at Amazon, Still get the light with the emission codes.
I noticed today that the cap was loose. I figured that this new cap must be bad. While searching I found that there are literally dozens of caps that are designated for C6 corvettes all with different numbers for The C6 Corvettes.
Amazon has numbers 315. 302,207.276.Auto Zone has about 5 different numbers. Gene Culley a similar amount Advance Auto The same amount.Pep boys What gives with this Which is correct? I cannot believe? T=that they ares all correct. Which is the Most Correct? I cannot buy one of each ??? I am sure Walmart and O'Reiley the same numbers. If you google C6 Corvettes the same variety

They keep changing the part number because GM keeps changing the number. Sometimes the cap actually changes, sometimes it does not. I can tell you that the replacement cap I bought at the dealer 8 years ago fit better (tighter) than the one I bought 2 years ago. Same dealership, same OEM cap.

Go to the Dealer and by one. If that doesn’t fix the problem, then you have other issues. Keep it clean and do not snap the tether in. Take it back and get your money back.

Hi BigBlok502, The one you mentioned GT303 is the one that does not work. I last purchased this one from Amazon a year and a half ago. Fits too loose feels like it is gonna fall off.
Maybe it is the filler neck. BTW up to $20.now.

This is the one I replaced the Original with. my 2006 had 8300 miles at that time, I assumned that the one on the car was the original. unfortunately I dumped that one when. The GT303 was on the car for about 6 months but I never checked the cap again until recently.
I am going to check if i still have the "Stant Gas Cap" checker from my NYS State inspector days many years ago.
