Default Reverse Solenoid

Hey Guys I'm sorry about the stupid question. I have searched and search the forums for a definitive answer and can not find one. some say its one way and some say its the other way. I'm using a tr6060 6spd manual transmission in a pro touring 69 Camaro build I'm doing. I cant get a definitive answer as to how the reverse lockout solenoid works.. Some say you engage power to the solenoid and this WILL allow you to go to reverse and some say that when the solenoid is powered it WILL NOT allow you to go to reverse. does anyone have a definitive answer as to how it works exactly. I'm gonna use a output from my Holley dominator Ecu to manage the solenoid just wanna make sure I understand how it works properly.

Thanks!

De-energized, to unlock it/ to allow the detent to be pushed in and allow it to go into reverse.

Thats how its supposed to be. When car on it energizers and it locks reverse so when ur driving u cant go into reverse when driving.
I forget what speed to activate solenoid when going forward.
When off is the same as if the connector is disconnected.

so basically if your driving the car lets say on the freeway for 4 hours that solenoid is active for 4 hours. isnt that really hard on a part like that?
