Default Centerforce Clutch Thoughts

Ok so I know, I know, I should have purchased a different clutch.
I thought I did an adequate amount of research before buying my clutch but of course 1 day after it arrived to me in Canada from summit in the US I started finding info about the weights hanging up an causing vibrations.

so the fix is to cut the weights out and run the clutch without but that of course will void my warranty. I sent a few emails to Centerforce asking if they have addressed this issue but of course for liability reasons they’re not going to respond.

so all the bad stuff I’ve read is a couple years old, not a lot of new info about this issue so has it been fixed or have people just stopped buying Centerforce?

im a little pissed at myself for not doing more research damn it.

Don, I have a friend with a centerforce in a Camaro for many years. Never heard a complaint and says it feels stock.

ask me about Spec clutches however and I’ll tell you that the 3 I’ve experienced (not Corvette) were complete garbage with springs popping out of sprung hubs, etc.

Your research is correct, with the difficulty & amount of work to R/R.......you should stop now. I've lived to many clutch nightmares with the vette to take that risk.

That said I'm sure you are going to install it......I will never said I told ya so

I can only say I had a Centerforce on a previous car and LOVED it. Nice easy soft engagement @ low rpm and hard engagement at high RPM. Perfect. I had no issues with the weights. Sorry you are... that's a bummer

Can't you return it if you are reconsidering?

I've got a Monster LT1-S twin disc in my supercharged GS and love it. OEM reliability as it is actually a stock C7 clutch with a custom flywheel to fit the C6.

im in Canada, it’s a pain in the *** for duty and taxes and shipping and because I’ve had it so long there will be a restocking fee.
I think I’m going to run it as is. Due to my current situation I’m running out of options, I need to get this car back together.

OK I understand. Install carefully and hope for the best. I have a feeling the issues were with a small number of clutches (and maybe the installer...). They have been in business a long time and make great products.

Are the problems you are referring to specific to Corvettes? I had a Centerforce in a car (Mopar) for a long time and I loved it. No problems with it.

No I've seen the issue reported with several different vehicles. I'm gonna run it as is, hope for the best.

Get out of there before your dictator ( I forgot the Chairman's name) decides it's blocking a bridge and declares you a deplorable. Probably confiscate your car as a public threat. (this is not a political statement in any way. Really....,. I mean that). I'm afraid of Mounties.

Centerforce on my C5... no issues, except it smells like fish if I slip it.
