2006 c6 z06...

OK so who are things 1st new to this one but not new to automotive forums in general. So so I will qualify the following by stating that I did as much due diligence regarding the answer to this question is I the question is I could divine on the Internet and am still Perplexed.

I was welding a gash torn in one of the header tubes. While under the car I noticed an errant plug that is on the driver's side of the Engine electrical harness. It is located right next to the exhaust tube for the cylinder closest to the firewall on the driver's side. I have a set of quick jacks and have done a fairly thorough job of of inspecting. Butbfor the life of me cannot find out where this thing goes any assistance is greatly appreciated!

The pictures were The pictures were taken from the top of the engine corner down into it. And yes notice that it is melted!..Thanks in advance! Peace. Oh and I hope the pictures upload the 1st time if they don't I will get them Uploaded

One thing about this situation is that a) I'm getting no CEL nor any warning on the driver's info display b) I tracrf both o2 sensor lines and they are both mated with a plug, and c) the obdII reader I am using indicates no trouble codes and all sensors seem to be functioning properly.

And really And really I've had no problems with problems with the car except recently recently A slight coolant leak but that was a loose hose and then I had Some anomalies going on with the mass air flow mass air flow and AFR but that's because I had a 3" long quarter inch wide gash in the header tubes We're each side comes down and joins The 4 exhaust tubes into 1. Better put 8 × 2 that then proceed to the Rear end.

And this car came to me this way I have made no modifications. It came with air raid "cold air intake", Some random headers but I'm not sure of the manufacturer And it has had the muffler surgery where they cut open each side of the muffler remove the fiberglass spice the is lice the section to make it straight out And pull the views on the active exhaust to make it open all the time period period it's also had an aftermarket 18 it but in and at 1 point obviously add a Independently powered subwoofer because I found remnants of wiring to that effect in the rear of the hatch.

So I'm thinking perhaps this could have been the result of modifications modifications and is a is a unnecessary appendage due to something that was was done to the original factory factory set up. But I'm not school enough in these cars that even begin to guess but that could be the case and if you think that's the case let me knowBecause I'm flying blind! Lol.. peace

Does this car have all the factory catalytic converters? That looks like the downstream O2 sensor (post cat on that bank). If the cats have been removed and replaced with long tube headers, that sensor has probably been "tuned out" like someone else mentioned.

Thank you kindly sir you have solved the dilemma I did not know that there were 4 o2 sensors on the OEM Z06. Just FYI here is what the run under the car looks like. And fwiw I highly recommend a QuickJack lift system no matter the amount of work you may do on the car. Because the price, especially on sale OR one of there demo or return refurbished ones, is WELL worth just being able to see underneath your car. Say like if you're simply driving over some innocuous stick amd it turns out to be a wire cable that grabs three underbody parts of your car amd just RIPS them off yiur car...like the lottlextiny slim ~$300 front air splitter! Ask me howxI know...lol!

T
So thanks for the insight on the sensor plugs...because I looked at the other side and FOUND a second plug identical to the first. peace!
