Get it dynod stock. Get mods and test it again and report back! So many variables every car is different

The A6 drivetrain will lose about 15% HP due to parasitic loss.

436 Net HP . . -15% = 371 RWHP

(That's using the new SAE J1349 correction factors for 'standard' atmospheric conditions)

Baro Press: . . 29.23 in/hg
Air Temp: . - . 77° F
Humidity: . . . 0%

That is so helpful! I just had a tune and AFE CAI installed and ended up with 392 at the wheels. BUT they didn't give me dyno sheet of the baseline pull so I don't know how much gain we had. If 392 at rear wheels, what HP would you guess at the crank?

I see you are an '87 Camaro owner; I had a '87 IROC and '02 Berger Camaro. BOTH sold. The IROCs are going for insane prices right now.

Thanks!

392 RWHP = 460 Net Crank HP

(that would be for a C6 with the automatic trans)

Actually seeing the numbers is a little bit disheartening because I sold my ZR1 with 683rwhp (on E85) last year, and now I'm running around in a bone stock 2011 Grand Sport M6. I reflect back to my 2008 Z06 and my quest to get over 500rwhp on that LS7 running NA. It took ~$30K and an all-forged custom built engine to get there (G&G Performance Engines in Tomball, TX - ended up with over 600rwhp). And that's only ~$8K less than I paid for this whole Grand Sport.

Ah, the quest for power. I think if I get the bug again (not likely, but stranger things have happened), I'll just throw on an A&A supercharger and call it a day.

wait are you serious? should you have exceeded your goal with just a set of ported fixed heads? i mean LS3s can break 500rwhp with a big aggressive cam alone

A bone stock LS3 (A6) makes about 371 RWHP ... It would take an additional 129 RWHP to get it up to 500 RWHP.

There is no way in hell that a "big aggressive" cam alone is good for 129 RWHP on an otherwise stock LS3.

There was no way I was going "big, aggressive cam" in any of my builds. The bucking, surging, and shaking was bad enough with a mild cam. That 600+ rwhp was with a Ragin' Racin' Phantom cam.

And that $30K worth came in the form of having to do a complete tear down and rebuild of the short block because the lifters with dual-springs (changed to PSI Beehive in the rebuild) were too aggressive where it seized the roller on one of the lifters and ate a lobe off the cam. Metal shavings everywhere.

I probably had $40K into that car before I finally cut my losses and got rid of it. Here was the final build: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ack-ebony.html

08 ls3.
it shows baseline run and final run with tune.
the car was not stock when I brought it for a tune.
longtube headers offroad midpipe and mufflerless axleback. Vararam ram intake.
FInal numbers are with the dyno tune.
SAE corrected. I even double SAE corrected it myself and got about the same numbers. I have a video of the computer doing the run and got all info from the monitor that's needed to calculate.

How are you doing the math? 460 gross would then be about 17.5% adjustment. thanks

460 Net Crank HP x .15 = 69

460 Net Crank HP - 69 = 391 RWHP
__________________________

This is considering a 15% loss of HP through the drivetrain

Bottom line ... If you decrease 460 by 15%, you get 391

For me, since they're all Corvettes and represent the 17+ years that I've been here on the forum, it imparts a certain credibility when I discuss any particular model based on personal experience. I still have two of the six in the garage.

I have seen stock A6 corvettes dyno anywhere from 360wheel to 400wheel. A more normal number would be in the 360-80 range. Manual cars I've seen anywhere from 360wheel to 400wheel. My car has just headers and tune, manual grand sport and dynoed 432, car probably made right around 400 wheel stock.
