Default Looking for ls2 243 head porting!

Is there any vendors on here that you would recommend for head porting and polishing. I have a btr stage 4 cam with headers and Cai, and super damper! I have seen guy putting down 500whp with the ls2 and I'm only at 425 with current mods. Any suggestions would be awesome.. I am running 4.11 gears so I don't mint the big camm.. much appreciated

Texas-Speed can CNC port your 243 heads.
My Ls2 made 500 whp with ported LS3 821 heads, stock LS3 intake manifold with stock LS2 throttle body. Also had cam, headers, exhaust and CAI.

Awesome just info I needed. I just got a ls3 intake Givin to me for wrapping a guys hood so now I just need to find some heads! This sounds like the route I will go! I wonder if I will run into valve clearance with ls3 heads with this stage 4 cam thow? Do you think I would need to flycut pistons?

Since you have a BTR cam I would ask them.

KATECH is first class no doubt but Texas-Speed aka PRC does their own CNC porting in-house. They do the heads that “Chevrolet Performance” has sold in the past.

If you get ls3 heads make sure they are 821 castings. They have the lightweight valves.

I really want to send my block off to R.E.D to have it sleeved to a 434 and run a 12:1 or 13:1 and give it the juice 😀 could use forced induction with the 434 also!

You're kinda all over the place. Nothing wrong with that. It's just difficult to help you not know which direction you're going.

If you do go with LS3 heads on a stock short block LS2, your static CR will go down quite a bit. 65cc chamber volume heads for the LS2 (243, 799 heads) vs 70cc for the LS3 (821,823 heads). You're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't mill the LS3 heads along with employing a .040 head gasket. I would imagine you'll need to fly cut your pistons with any sort of big duration/high lift cam. If you're unable or unwilling to do the fly cutting, you're better off just having your 243 heads worked or going with aftermarket catty port heads.

ls3 heads would be great with new pistons. Lingenfelter did the CNC 243 heads I used to buy from GM, the old ASA/World Challenge/Grand Am Heads. I wish those were still available.

Yeah the 434 talk was more dream talk than anything, didn't mean to sound all over the place. I am definitely porting my 243s or going the ls3 route.. The reason I really want to go through ls3 route is to utilize the free intake I got and also of course the extra hp in hopes of getting to 500whp.. I don't mind having to do the mill work and the flycutting.. It is almost getting to be winter up here in Ole North Dakota so getting it done while it is parked will be perfect.. That's when I did my camm last year.. I have never seen anybody do ls3 heads with this big of a cam so I would like to see what kinda whp it can make.. Might also send the ls3 intake off to nitrous express to have some hidden plumbing installed in it if they are still doing that! Appreciate the Info on the milling and gasket change! From what I found searching I knew this would need to be done! Just not exactly how much with the stage 4 Cam.

You might also consider having your intake manifold ported and rod modded. A ported throttle body could help some too. That's if you're staying n/a. If you're going to throw nitrous at it, you can just add a little more juice for less money.

I used Tx Speed to port my heads for my LS3 build. Also had them milled .010 and used Cometic MLS .040 head gaskets. No PTV clearance issues with a custom Cam Motion 226/234 115+4 with .620 lift on both sides. Pretty much a baby cam compared to what you're using. I think the static CR worked out to about 11.3:1. It touched 500/454 at the wheels which was 10 or 15 hp more than I thought it would make.

Tx Speed will disassemble, clean, CNC port, do a competition valve job, mill as much as you want, and assemble with your valve spring of choice. About $800. You get back a new looking set of cylinder heads ready to bolt on. Hell of a deal.

Nice! Glad to run Into some guys that have went this route before. All the info is great! Any suggestions on where to get the intake manifold and throttle body ported? That sounds like hell of a deal with Texas Speed. I have been pricing out some refurbished 821 casted heads and I am seeing them for about $900 A pair on ebay. I would **** if I made over 500whp.. I know I lost allot of torque going with this stage 4, but with the 4:11s I really don't mind it now! Allot of people were saying the street manners would not be good, but ever since I put in solid motor mounts, 1 piece drive shaft and the 9 Inch there is no chugging at all. I literally can drive at 40mph in 6th and barely be over 1k rpm and there is no surging.
