Temperature gauge not working correctly
Having an issue with my temperature gauge in my 06 Z06 and hope someone can point me in the right direction. On a cold start the gauge will start anywhere from 180-220 with it pegged beyond 260 once warmed up. Throughout all of this the DIC has been spot on and I've never gotten any warning messages.
If I drive it for a little while and the car gets fully warmed up and I shut it off to go into a store or something when I come back and start it up the gauge will read accurately.

It may be a bad ECT sensor but I always check the 5 volt reference and the ground also…the ECT is a simple 2 wire thermistor…if you were to disconnect the sensor you should see -40 degrees or so…if you short the 2 wires together (which you can ONLY do on these thermistor circuits) the temp will max out…either you have a bad sensor or you 5 volt reference circuit may be shorting to ground…it’s either one.
