Are you also raising the top a little after the latch is released?

Welcome to the forum. You should complete your profile so we know the year-model of your car. Also, is the convertible top manual or power? providing very specific information concerning what you have done and how it is reacting could also help us to help you.

Having said that and not knowing if you have an owners manual, I have attached mine. Read through section 2 starting page 22 where the specifics of both the manual & power convertible top operation steps are addressed. Once you have read & performed the applicable procedure...let us know your results and specifics on any failure(s). If you have a power top, the trunk partition must be in place and the sensor button functioning before you can move forward. Information on the DIC (driver information center) in your dash should produce messages.

Good luck and let us know...GD

Exactly, twist the release handle and push up on the roof. Your windows will automatically go down. If this fails, maybe you need to check the hydraulic motor valve screw. The hydraulic motor is in the back , passenger side of the car. It's under the carpet. You need an alen wrench. Make sure the screw is tight to hold hydraulic pressure in. Go to YouTube and search for "how to find Hydraulic C6 Corvette convertible motor". This message would be too long if I tried to explain all the details. Good luck.

There are limit switches that control the function of the top, one of which is located in the windshield header. It could be hanging -up. Open latch push up on top to raise about 1 inch and then take your palm and hit the windshield header on the area of the latch and it may release the limit sw.
Lack of use could be the problem here.

The way I do mine is to push up and then move the latch back to its closed position. That keeps the top above the windshield.

Another thing to check (although it should give an error along these lines) is to check the trunk partition. There's a micro switch on that also to prevent top operation if the partition is removed.

Lack of use could definitely be part of it. Yes, I have a C5, and it's a manual top. But even a new button to open the Tonneau cover would sometimes fail to open it. So the next time I got it to open, I pushed that release button about 40 times, one after the other. I've not had a problem since. Perhaps manually activating the limit switches on a C6 several dozen times would clean the contacts somewhat?......

Well it certainly couldn't hurt. I have found though, that once these switches go bad they usually have to be replaced. They will work but intermittently.

Default Alldata manual alternatives

Greetings from Europe!
Alldata is not offered for out of US people-cant access any helpful links :/
In what order switches are swithed while opening process of roof and where exactly each switch is located?
My 2007y c6 roof gets stucked in process where it should start to rise trunk tonneau/lid. Unlocking manually from release valve it just pulls it closed again.
Thanks
