Just to clarify, you are aware of the EMCO sequential gearbox for C6: https://www.lgmotorsports.com/corvet...nsmission.html or of this alternative: https://www.cbsracingshop.com/en/cor...arbox-samsonas ?

Would it be easier to swap a C6 body on a C7 chassis? Or do the rules limit the age of the car by the VIN?
Back in my circle track days ('65-68) we'd swap later year bodies on the '55 Chevy frame, to run in the "late model" division, to avoid having to build a whole new car.

So , what would it cost to have a sequential trans installed. I've seen them in these cars before. Would it be that much more than trying to Frankenstein the C8 trans into a C6? I'm just asking. Seems like it'd be alot easier to go with what's available and proven to work already?

There are a several sequential trans options out there, The good ones are in the 25k to buy the trans, but when its all said and done you will be in the 30k range for a complete install. Yes there is one that's 15k, however there is lots of negative feedback for it. I'm not going to mention the name here.
One of the big benefits in my opinion to the C8 trans is the weight distribution that would come with it. The C8 trans would stick out past the rear axel. This would move more weight to the rear of the car, shifting the balance more rearward. I like a car with a 45 front 55 rear or 40 F 60 R balance. Just because BMW says 50 50 is best, its not The Best.
So yes there is a lot to this "Swap", but there are a lot of potential benefits to it as well.

I have a different motivation than most corvette owners, My car is 90% track, and i have a goal to beat every Porsche GT3 RS on the track. All of those guys have the PDK trans and they chuckle when they see my manual.
My car has a lot of fancy go fast stuff to equal the GT3 RS, but i have this idea that a DCT TR-9080 will fit and work with some smart engineering.

I am in the same boat as you. Those PDK cars pull me by cars exiting a turn. My gear ratio is either too high or too low.

Default C8TRANSAXLE to PANTERA

Hey all you CHEV low life - any suggestions on the following (and I am NOT interested in hearing any ******** comments about cost etc etc 'money is no object' - HA - famous last words) - I have several PANTERA projects (ALL FORD powered), and would like to consider a C8 transaxle into one of the 'MAD' projects. I am thinking (not sure if doable) that a top end HALTECH ECU may be able to be configured to control the C8 transaxle in my application. The HP is a measly circa 750.0 - so I am sure that the C8 will have zero issues coping with the power. Work with me on this - this will be a NEATO project. Any SENSIBLE comments on how this could be achieved? And yes - I have several low life CHEV's in my stable, and my first car when I was 18-years of age was CHEV powered - HA. Please - intelligent 'engineering' comments ONLY. I am NOT interested in your personal comments re "too much money' - 'OH it is FORD powered" etc etc. HA - the only car that I would never own - nor even take a ride in - is a tesla SH-T - HA.

This swap is not for your street car.
If you are a track guy who is looking into a sequential trans swap (on the order of $30k), this C8 trans swap might be a good alternative.
If you rip around on your local streets, this is not for you, I mean unless you have a thick wallet and just want to be different.

So it's been close to a year discussing the merits of this project

Has any actual progress been made in attempting the swap?

Are you kidding me, have you read how these tire kickers flamed me? I'll keep my DCT trans mod development to myself from now on.
I posted about moding a car for racing on a track, and these guys who have never road raced in their life told me how dumb it is, and they will stick with the stock manual trans.
I should have posted this in the track forum... this forum is full of guys who brag about how their car has super low miles, no cosmetic blemishes, and they baby it around town hold the one street race per summer from light to light against a mustang or a civic with their wife in the passenger seat.

It's a cool idea and would love to see some progress but did you really expect anything else from most of the people on here?

Advice for tried and true, been done before type stuff is all over on this site and has helped a bunch of people including me. Anything out of the ordinary, expect the flame job

the problem is no one flamed him, we tried to offer him real world advice and he apparently knows better than anyone here and we're all tire kickers who have never built a racecar... but here we are a year later and crickets... I'll eat my words when someone has something real to show... but yeah... till then...
