Hi guys,
attaching the computer to my c6 I get the error of a cylinder that does not start.
The mechanic first replaced the spark plugs which were a bit worn.
But after a while the problem reappeared.
He told me it's probably a coil problem.
So he suggested me to change the coils.
He told me that if the problem is not solved then the cylinder will have to be changed.
What do you think about this?
another question, if I have to change the coils, do you suggest me to put the MSD or the Granatelli Motorsports over the originals?
I've read that these improve performance
Slip into the description:
"Increased spark energy and voltage, along with multiple spark capabilities, help improve the combustion process of the fuel mixture to create an efficient burn. This results in improved throttle response, smooth idle and quick starts, plus increased high rpm performance."
The OEM coils are more than adequate for our LS motors. That said, did you try moving that cylinders coil to another location?
I would also swap coil and spark plug wires just to make sure.

Thanks for reaply.
Actually I've already changed the cables and put the LG Motorsports G2 SUPER WIRES.
One of these touched the headers and the plastic around it burned a bit.
Could that be the problem?

Yes, this may be your problem and I’m guessing you have a misfire…I guess Italian mechanics are just parts changers just like here in America…these aftermarket coils and wires are NOT necessary…just a bunch of marketing BS…OEM stuff is fine…other than ignition this can be a fuel injector issue or even mechanical…you just have to find someone that has the specialized equipment to diagnose this and the know how !!
As said above, try swapping parts from an adjacent cylinder and see if the problem moves also. If this works, depending on your mileage, I may or may not change all the parts. Most oem parts are good for 100k-200k miles.
What is your mileage??
SOME aftermarket parts are better than stock, and some aren't. Some aren't as good and some are only appropriate for racing applications. Lots of marketing and bs involved.
For a street car, OEM are often the best choice.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
It was the spark plug wires, I had replaced the original wires with LG Motorsports "G2 Super Wires".
The LGs are of a very bad quality, they have a plastic attachment and despite the thermal sheath they are burned.
I put the originals back and the problem is solved.
$130 thrown away.
Thanks everyone for the replies
