So my HUD mirror had fallen on the previous owner in my 2005 base. I finally decided to fix it, and used several excellent threads here on fashioning brackets, etc, since my mirror pivot mounts were trashed.
Anyhow, got it in all solid and nice. Reinstalled the HUD, and no HUD on the windshield! That was a pain in the *** to install, and I can see the HUD looking from outside the car looking down through the windsheild.
It cycles through everything fine, the mirror adjust moves it. I suspect when I put the mirror assembly back together, the initial angle or the way the mirror sits must be wrong.
I will be removing it again later (argggh) and taking apart. I can take pictures of how the mirror is sitting inside.
In the meantime, does anyone have any pictures or description on how the HUD pivot mirror is supposed to sit when reinstalling it on it's pivots, and in relation to the stepper motor. I am guessing I don't have the stepper motor and the mirror arm in the right places.
Thank you, I used this post to fashion brackets for broken out mounting tabs. Excellent post! I guess I didn't pay attention enough to the blue stepper motor arm's position. It looks like it is pointing up.
Such a pain in the *** to remove and install the HUD unit. I used a ratcheting closed end wrench (not long enough), long closed end wrench (1/8 turn at a time). My hands are big, so it is very tight, cuts up my hand, take about 45 minutes to get the nuts tightened or loosened. I have slotted the tabs as well, but I need to flare them a little more I guess to make it easier to put in position.
